Moreover, an additional 100 red-tagged barramundi, each valued at $10,000, add to the excitement.
Wondering where to cast your line? The Top End offers five main regions, ranging from Milikapiti in the Tiwi Islands to Borroloola. These regions are teeming with barramundi, as 132 fish have been tagged and released across multiple locations.
The designated regions for fishing in the Million Dollar Fish competition, as per Tourism NT, include:
Darwin: Explore Darwin Harbour, Shady Camp, Dundee Beach, and Daly River, all within easy reach of Darwin. Daly River has seen numerous tagged barramundi caught in previous years.
Kakadu: Venture to Yellow Water and East Alligator River, boasting stunning landscapes and abundant birdlife.
Arnhem Land: Embark on your fishing adventure in Groote Eylandt, Cobourg, Maningrida, Ramingingung, and Nhulunbuy.
Tiwi Islands: Head to Milikapiti and Bathurst Island for a unique fishing experience.
Katherine: Discover the fishing hotspots south of Katherine, including Victoria River, Roper River, and Borroloola.
